Reggae Revival, the term coined by music media that describes the collective’s global influence upon reggae’s popularity in various art forms was profiled on Vogue last year. The article introduced its mainstream U.S. audience to “the millennial musicians behind Jamaica’s new movement.” The origin story of the Reggae Revival began at Jamnesia, a surf camp in the Saint Andrew parish of Jamaica, in Bull Bay. The camp’s founder, Billy “Mystic” Wilmot of the ‘70s reggae band (Mystic Revealers) founded Jamnesia to raise a new generation of surfers and skaters after his own heart, and serve as a creative outlet for the youth. Jamnesia would also host weekly performances, allowing the likes of Chronixx, Protoje, Jesse Royal, Jah9, Kabaka Pyramid, Kelissa, Raging Fyah and many others to polish their musical talent.

Upon the release of Chronixx’s Dread and Terrible project, his rise to stardom accelerated rapidly. He made a groundbreaking performance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon in July 2014. This standout performance of “Here Comes Trouble,” was layered by Chronixx covering Jesse Royal’s “Modern Day Judas” and Jah9’s “Reverence,” which all were recorded over 2013’s Rootsman Riddim. Now the camaraderie from Chronixx’s landmark TV performance unveils more of the Reggae Revival’s range of talent before his solo debut album arrives this year. Chronology, also the name of the album is a follow-up to Chronixx’s instant-classic mixtape, Roots & Chalice, produced by Federation Sound. Max Glazer of Federation will join Chronixx and friends on tour through April.
